چکیده

In this paper we construct the linear support vector machine (SVM) based on the nonlinear rescaling (NR) methodology (see [11, 14, 12] and references therein). The formulation of the linear SVM based on the NR method leads to an algorithm which reduces the number of support vectors without compromising the classification performance compared to the linear soft-margin SVM formulation. The NR algorithm computes both the primal and the dual approximation at each step. The dual variables associated with the given data-set provide important information about each data point and play the key role in selecting the set of support vectors. Experimental results on ten benchmark classification problems show that the NR formulation is feasible. The quality of discrimination, in most instances, is comparable to the linear soft-margin SVM while the number of support vectors in several instances were substantially reduced. 1 Manuscript Click here to download Manuscript: svm-nrm_3.tex

Support vector regression with random output variable and probabilistic constraints

Support Vector Regression (SVR) solves regression problems based on the concept of Support Vector Machine (SVM). In this paper, a new model of SVR with probabilistic constraints is proposed that any of output data and bias are considered the random variables with uniform probability functions. Using the new proposed method, the optimal hyperplane regression can be obtained by solving a quadrati...

Evaluation of the Efficiency of Linear and Nonlinear Models in Predicting Monthly Rainfall (Case Study: Hamedan Province)

In this research, we used the support vector machine (SVM), support vector machine combine with wavelet transform (W-SVM), ARMAX and ARIMA models to predict the monthly values of precipitation. The study considers monthly time series data for precipitation stations located in Hamedan province during a 25-year period (1998-2016). The 25-year simulation period was divided into 17 years for t...

Determination of 137Ba Isotope Abundances in Water Samples by Inductively Coupled Plasma-optical Emission Spectrometry Combined with Least-squares Support Vector Machine Regression

A simple and rapid method for the determination of 137Ba isotope abundances in water samples by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) coupled with least-squares support vector machine regression (LS-SVM) is reported. By evaluation of emission lines of barium, it was found that the emission line at 493.408 nm provides the best results for the determination...

Detection of Glioblastoma Multiforme Tumor in Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Based on Support Vector Machine

Introduction: The brain tumor is an abnormal growth of tissue in the brain, which is one of the most important challenges in neurology. Brain tumors have different types. Some brain tumors are benign and some brain tumors are cancerous and malignant. Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) is the most common and deadliest malignant brain tumor in adults. The average survival rate for peo...

Nonlinear Dynamic System Identification into Wiener Model using Subspace Identification and Support Vector Machine

In this article, a new blockoriented nonlinear identification method is proposed. This modeling method uses the Wiener model comprised of a linear dynamic block that is followed by a nonlinear static block. The linear block is described by the subspace identification algorithm whereas the nonlinear one is represented via the Least SquaresSupport Vector Machine. The proposed method is tested wit...
